Our Curriculum

Elements of the National Curriculum serve as the framework for defining the range of educational experiences we offer at Seadown but we endeavour to deliver this holistically and through an exciting, engaging and thematic curriculum.

The core subjects of English and Maths retain a central place with the development of personal, social and emotional skills being of paramount importance. Suitable weighting is accorded to all other subjects with much work being done through cross-curricular or creative learning experiences.

Beyond the classroom, outside activities and educational visits inspire and engage our pupil's, as well as supporting our work in developing personal, social and emotional skills. Seadown School benefits from regular use of the local swimming pool and a close-by hall for our PE activities.

We recognise that some students at our school may, for various reasons, not be able to benefit from a full National Curriculum entitlement so planning for learning is differentiated according to need.  This commitment is in place with the aim of moving students towards the opportunity for full entitlement.

Seadown Embraces Virtual Reality

As civilisation moves further into the age of technology, we at Seadown strive to fully equip our students with the tools necessary to thrive in the ever-changing world. not only can our pupils experience places around the world, but also delve into tranquil worlds to experience deep meditation and mindfulness activities.

Pupils also have the opportunity to get hands-on and virtual with various subject matters such as maths, history, geography and more. As they use virtual reality to learn about various topics and strands within the curriculum.

We have teamed up with ZyberVR who are generously supplying us with accessories to make the experience of VR even more realistic for the young people in our school.

More details and news to come as we begin our virtual journey...
