Message from the Head

Welcome to Seadown School.  It is a privilege to be Headteacher of our small, caring, independent special school for pupils aged 6 to 16, where we celebrate every pupil as an individual. Our pupils have a range of neurodiverse needs including ASC, ADHD, dyslexia and DCD. Our provision also supports pupils with SEMH needs (social, emotional and mental health).

We pride ourselves on forming positive, trusting and respectful relationships with pupils where everyone is valued. We work closely with families and see positive home-school relationships as an important part in ensuring each pupil thrives and reaches their full potential.

Seadown seeks to remove barriers to learning, providing a nurturing environment through a trauma-informed, attachment aware approach to support mental health and wellbeing. Our teaching and learning aims to engage and inspire, building on children’s interests, prior knowledge and skills. Alongside academic studies, our curriculum incorporates a structured life skills element. This approach is underpinned by our strong values work, helping prepare our pupils to become independent and responsible individuals, equipping them for their chosen pathway and to flourish in the wider community.

Our highly skilled and caring team provide a wide variety of support including tailored interventions to address gaps in learning, as well as pastoral interventions aimed at developing pupils’ social and emotional development.  We also work with a wide variety of partners who lead interventions onsite linked directly to their EHCPs. A wide range of offsite activities and interventions enrich our provision supporting pupils’ holistic development.

I would be delighted to welcome you to Seadown and share with you what makes our popular and successful school, a special place to grow and learn.
