Testimonials
The success of our pupils is deep rooted in positive relationships within school and also positive relationships between home and school. Read what our current and prospective families say about Seadown:
“We are so pleased with the school and the support it provides. The staff are caring, dedicated, and truly go above and beyond to create a positive and nurturing environment for the children. The quality of learning is excellent, with engaging lessons that support each child’s development, and a great range of extra activities that really enrich their experience. We feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community.”
“My daughter has been at Seadown for just over a year now and I couldn't be happier she's excelled more in 1 year than she ever did in the 3 schools before we found Seadown.
The staff are always putting the children first nothing is a problem and the communication between staff and parents is outstanding. The learning is to their individual abilities also their own pace the leaning is based more on the children's interests to keep them engaged and learning without even realising.
I wouldn't have my daughter anywhere else, she feels happy to come to school for the first time ever and she feels safe.”
"I can’t thank the staff at Seadown enough. Thanks to them, their amazing understanding of children and the schools belief in every child, I got my daughter back to the girl I knew and I could be mum. I never knew before, how it would feel to know my daughter is safe at school and thriving. Communication is open, honest and so easy. I can’t recommend Seadown enough."
“We are so grateful to have found Seadown School! This is truly the first school where my daughter feels completely welcomed and supported. She has made wonderful friends, and it’s amazing to see her so excited to attend every day. The environment is nurturing, and the staff genuinely care about her happiness."
“As a parent, I cannot speak highly enough of Seadown School and the positive impact it has had on my child over the past nearly two academic years. Joining a specialist setting was a big step for us, but from the very beginning, the staff have been incredibly friendly, supportive, and genuinely invested in each child’s wellbeing and progress.
Communication with the school has been excellent. We have regular meetings to review progress, and I always feel informed, listened to, and involved in my child’s development. It’s clear that there is a strong partnership between home and school, which has made a huge difference.
Academically, I’ve seen a real improvement in my child’s level of education. The teaching is tailored and engaging, helping to build both confidence and ability. Just as importantly, my child now genuinely enjoys going to school each day—something we once struggled with. They have formed friendships and feel a sense of belonging, which means so much to us as a family.
One of the standout aspects of Seadown School is the variety of alternative learning opportunities. Activities such as forest school, horse riding, boxing, and swimming have been fantastic for building confidence, resilience, and life skills. The inclusion of daily exercise, including the Daily Mile, also shows a real commitment to both physical and mental wellbeing.
It’s also evident that there is ongoing investment into the school, which reflects a dedication to continually improving the environment and opportunities for the children.
Overall, Seadown School has been transformative for my child, and I am incredibly grateful for the care, support, and opportunities they provide.”
“Our child was well supported at Junior school but was set up to fail in mainstream Secondary. Although he was always willing to go to school, when he was there, he was highly fearful and often left the classroom when he could. He was bullied on a daily basis and learned disruptive behaviour which alienated him from other children. Eventually the school agreed that he was not progressing and they could not meet his needs, recommending a smaller, more nurturing, setting.
Luckily the Local Authority agreed and soon a place became available at Seadown. Our child soon settled in although he had to unlearn his disruptive traits and start to engage with his learning. Small classes, an empathic approach and constantly available pastoral care gradually won him over and he has been able to gain focus and start to fulfil his potential. Thanks to Seadown and its caring community our child will be able to succeed in his Functional Skills exams and progress to a College course, something we could never have envisaged as he struggled in Year 7.”
“Now things have settled in terms of staffing, I’ve got to say the school has been brilliant for our grandson. He is happy everyday attending a place that makes him feel safe and confident. He can work at a pace to suit him without pressure to reach goals he feels uncertain about. I have always found the staff great with the children. Any problems the staff are easy to talk to and always come up with a solution to work around each child individually but also to bring them all together. Seadown has also taken away our grandson’s anxieties and fear of school, so yes for us Seadown ticks all the boxes for a less anxious now happy boy who feels more confident.”
“I am writing to thank you for welcoming my child to visit your school. She had an incredibly positive experience and enjoyed her time there. I think she will thrive at this school.”
“Thank you very much for taking the time to show us around Seadown and for arranging the visit. We found the environment calm and supportive, and it was really helpful to see the approach you take with students. We feel that the provision could be a good fit for our child’s needs.”
