Life Skills

In line with our vision, at Seadown we “aim to support every pupil to achieve their full potential and equip them with the life skills they need to thrive as valued members of our community and wider society.”

To this end, we have worked closely with teachers across our school to create a progressive curriculum linked to supporting pupils to develop key skills across the following areas:

  • Self-care and mental health

  • Home skills

  • Personal safety

  • Finance

  • Travel and work skills

These complement and extend learning in other areas such as PSHE with a very practical, hands-on focus. We make the most of our superb locality close to the town centre of Worthing and partnerships across the county, alongside investing in our own onsite resources to bring learning to life for our pupils.

Pupils are directly involved in assessing their progress across the “I can” statements linked to key objectives for each area, to support assessment of progress and attainment.
